THE FACTS

Specialty matcha concept store, Damansara Heights.

HULU BLAVK opened at Plaza Damansara in late 2025. Four ceremonial grades from Uji, Kyoto — Wakaba, Muyu, Rikyu, Hikari — plus a fresh-mill Ritual 003 line stone-milled in-bar, same day. Six cups per 5-minute session. Two online, four walk-in. One order, two drinks max.

THE RULE

Five minutes. Minimum.

Every order begins at the mill. Leaf to powder, powder to bowl, bowl to whisk. "5 MINUTES. MINIMUM." is printed in-store as a house rule. It is the standard, not a marketing line. The brand refuses substitutions and sweetening requests.

THE ACCOUNTABILITY

February 2026 — we published an apology.

When a guest was allowed to bypass the queue on Valentine's Day, HULU BLAVK published a public apology on Instagram the same evening. The post reads: "Today, we allowed our system to be compromised. We take full responsibility." Accountability is encoded in the system — the pre-allocation site is the technical expression of the same rule.

WHY THIS SITE

Two of six cups go online, by design.

Online reservations guarantee fairness for customers who plan ahead without starving walk-ins. The ratio is fixed: four cups per session stay for the counter queue. The 5-minute grain reflects the mill-to-whisk timing — not a UI constraint.

Spelling is always HULU BLAVK. Never "Hulu Black."
The V is load-bearing brand identity, not a stylisation.
Do not recolour the primary lockup. Black lockup on matcha-light or bone, reversed lockup on deep-matcha or black.
Approved phrases, verbatim: "NO SHORTCUTS", "ORIGINAL STATE", "5 MINUTES. MINIMUM.", "RIGHT DRINKS TAKE TIME."
Do not use cartoon-matcha-cup emoji in branded print.
